We, who help take care of MetroMac's day to day activities, namely Chris Bastian, Peter M. Fine and Marc Silverman, have decided to suspend the collection of the membership dues, effective immediately.
This ends the special "Supporting" level membership category and will be phased out but benefits provided to those members will continue.
The result will be to offer most of those benefits to all registered members and that change may take a number of weeks to complete as we need to work out some details. The "Supporting Member Deals" forum is now open to all registered members and any discount codes or details for vendor offers are now included in "Press Releases & Vendor Info" forum.
Why would we do this?
In all honesty, in recent years, we have had to spend very little out of pocket to keep the group going.
Donations from vendors and the free talent pool - the three named above
plus the additional talents of our online contributors including Lloyd Prezant have allowed us to save most of our dues collected since we formed the group. If there was a "fourth amigo", it would be Lloyd.The Apple Store's have been great in providing meeting spaces and our featured speakers come to our meetings at their expense.
If this need changes down the road we will let you know but for now, this looks like the right move to make for the forceable future.
